Designing Interactions
by Chief Alchemist a.k.a Wiley Chin - January 23, 2007 Posted: 4:38:18 PM EDT

Once in a while, I get excited enough about a book to buy it over Amazon. Meaning, I can't wait for it to arrive at Malaysia. Normally, that would take up to 3-4 months, or sometimes more. Since what I was eyeing is considered a 'technical book', I suspect it might take more time to be deemed worthy to be shipped in by our bookstores.

A few weeks ago, I spied that Bill Moggeridge of IDEO has a NEW book called 'Designing Interactions'. I checked at MPH, nope, not there. I scoured Kinokuniya, zilch. Nada. Ordering it with Kino would cost twice the amount of the published price at Amazon. SO, I did the next mad thing. I ordered it online.

Now that I have this thick, big, heavy (I mean it, HEAVY (2kg???)) tome of an inspirational publication about moving pixels on a screen, I'm gonna go crazy chewing it up.

To infinity and...the digital beyond!

(Erm, sounds familiar, nvm, it's all about interactivity for now)

The Undercover Economist

Currently reading this book.

Tim Harford, The Undercover Economist
The Undercover Economist
~Tim Harford

The blurb says; 'Ever wondered why the gap between the rich and poor nations is so great, or why it's so difficult to get a foot on the property ladder, or why you can't buy a decent second-hand car? Thus book offers the hidden story behind these and other forces that shaped our day-to-day lives, often without us knowing it.'

I am significantly intrigued! I don't quite remember much of my 'Fundamentals of Economics' except the law of diminishing returns. That's only because I can't have 3 cups of coffee at a go even though I am coffee addict. Perhaps this book might shed some light into what is to be known about economics, above all those brilliant babbles in the news and the papers.

Empower Yourself Through NLP and Time Line Therapy
by Chief Alchemist a.k.a Wiley Chin - January 15, 2007 Posted: 5:27:09 PM EDT

All of us attended a weekend seminar called Empower Yourself Through NLP and Time Line Therapy conducted by Dr Kamarul Zaman Ahmad from University of Malaya.

We all extinguished fire with our bare-hands.That was me going for the 'burning satay' because I was very very hungry.

Ooo..nice satays!

Hui Sheng's 1 liner joke attempt. It was funny, by the look of it.

Group photo, dragon slayers of XiMnet with the trainers and some UPM MBA students.

It was a whole load of fun! I am ready for glass and fire-walking.
